Local businessman, Charles
Abernathy was convicted of the
crime of murder this morning. The trial is over after almost 4 weeks of
testimony and cross examination. The victim, Arthur Danfield was said
to have
been Abernathy’s closest friend.
Evidence found at the
scene of the crime, as well as eye
witness testimony allowed the jury to return from deliberation in less
than 2
hours. No motive was ever established.
Abernathy is to serve 25 years to life for his crime. He
leaves behind his wife, Ophelia and a newborn child, Ariana. Sadly,
Ariana was
born just this morning as the jury was deciding the fate of her father. |
At 6:30 PM yesterday, local
Sheriffs responded to an
anonymous call which led them to a residence in a remote part of
upstate New
York; Edgewater
Down. The caller (an unknown male) informed dispatch that a woman had
been
killed. Upon arrival, Coroner’s investigators determined the
death to be an
accidental fall down a flight of stairs.
The deceased,
Ariana Abernathy had recently inherited the
house from her late father, convicted murderer Charles Abernathy. He
had built
the house in the 3 years after completing his 30 year sentence in
federal
prison. It is said that Ariana was unaware of her father’s
existence until she
was contacted by the executor of his will, just three years ago.
